PIER GROUP RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS “BEST OF TECH” MIRA AWARD

Jasper-based Tech Company is Honored for IT Solutions Provided to Universities in Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic

JASPER, Ind. (Apr. 30, 2021) OpinePR 🎯 - PIER Group, a higher education IT consultancy company based out of Jasper, Indiana, is honored to announce that the company won a Mira Award for Service Partner of the Year during TechPoint’s 22nd annual gala. The Mira Awards, which is Indiana’s largest and longest running technology awards program, recognizes the “Best of Tech” in the state.

PIER Group, a woman-owned consulting firm, has been honored for the rapid and aggressive solutions provided to its university clients in response to the Covid-19 pandemic including the design and deployment of regional and local hot spots to enable remote learning in record time.

Specifically, Indiana University partnered with PIER Group to help provide free, 24-hour, high-speed Wi-Fi access across the state to students, faculty, and staff as well as the general public who may not have internet connectivity due to COVID-19 related library and business closures. This new service of parking lot “hot spots” is innovative that in record time these access points were installed to ensure students across eight Indiana University locations throughout the state could finish their semester by maintaining and following social distancing regulations while accessing the internet from their cars.

More about the Mira Awards

This year, 16 award winners and honorees were chosen from a record-breaking 211 applications. Fifty-two independent, volunteer judges spent more than 850 total hours evaluating applications, interviewing nominees, and selecting this year’s winners. Judges included an impressive roster of company founders, CEOs and presidents, CTOs, CIOs, engineers and other industry professionals.

“Community matters, not only in the challenging times, but also the times of celebration and hope,” said Mike Langellier, president and CEO of TechPoint. “Now is one of those times and the Mira Awards gala is our tech community’s rallying point to come together, share stories of success, and look to the future with hope and determination.”

This year’s winners, across all award categories, demonstrated abilities to address the scope and urgency of the moment that will redefine business-as-usual for their own operations, and very likely for their competitors. For example, 2021 Mira Award winners are reinventing industries through virtual-first and hybrid approaches; transforming everyday business processes into marketing opportunities and profit centers; shifting progress-resistant traditional marketplaces into advanced digital spaces; and bringing new thinking to healthcare and hygiene that is literally saving lives. Full list of the 2021 TechPoint Mira Award winners and honorees to be posted online in the coming weeks.
